Publisher's summary

Life has become a farcical mess for icy British A-lister Elizabeth Thornton. America's most-hated villain stars in a top-rated TV medical drama that she hates. Now, she's been romantically linked to her perky, new co-star, Summer, due to the young woman's clumsiness. As a closeted actress, that's the last thing Elizabeth needs. If she could just get her dream movie role, life would be so much better. The only problem is that the eccentric French film-maker offering it insists on meeting her "girlfriend", Summer, first.

Summer Hayes is devastated when her co-star shuns her for accidentally sparking rumors that they're lovers. Now the so-called British Bitch has the audacity to ask Summer to pretend to be her girlfriend to get her a role? Elizabeth doesn't even like Summer! Oh, how she'd love to tell her no. And Summer definitely would if it wasn't for the fact she's maybe a tiny bit in love with the impossible woman.

Contains mature themes.

Winter and Dawe: double trouble!

I regularly find myself in trouble after finishing a Lee Winter book, as no other book on my to-read list seems capable of holding my attention.
This edition of Breaking Character pairs Winter's exquisite writing with a masterful performance by Angela Dawe, and the result is... double trouble!
How am I supposed to listen to another audiobook after *this*? 😭

This audiobook raises the quality bar for the genre, and I would highly recommend it.

One of the best Lesfic books out there.

Honestly, so well written, performed and the story is brilliant. Perhaps I’m biased because I live in LA and in the industry but it was so well executed. Tantalizing, true, and beautifully written. Well done Lee Winter.

Enjoyable

Slow start but once you get through the first few chapters it has you hooked. Loved the accents both British and American. Narrator did a fabulous job.

Funny, touching romance, pulls at your heart !

I absolutely loved this story! Such a touching romance. I rooted For the MC's All the way thru. The narrator blows it out of the water. Lee has become one of my favorite writers... need more of her books on audible I pretty much went through them all. slow angst but perfect pace. this is a must listen or read but listening really brings it to life!

The Best Yet

The sub-genre of Hollywood actress lesbian romance is one of my favorites, and before this book I greatly enjoyed "About That Kiss," "Living," and "Casting Lacey." I thought the first 2/3 of this book lagged behind the other three, but then the book got down to its real business and took off - and to my utter astonishment it left the others in the dust. The story became mesmerizing and I could not stop listening until I finished it. What a surprise! Australian writer Lee Winter was masterful in weaving a more nuanced and subtle story than I was used to in the romances I had read so far. I underestimated and under-appreciated her when I began the book. Now I see why she has won so many writing awards. The second listen when I was more attuned to the story was more engrossing. Angela Dawe deserves full credit for her amazing narration and perfect rendering of American, English, Irish, Scottish, Kiwi and French accents. Both the writing and the narration are the best yet.

Brilliant Writing and Performance

Angela Dawes gives a flawless presentation of this Lee Winter creation. The characters drew me into the world of drama and art. I love Summer and her family and Bess is a fabulous ice queen.

Ice Queen Melts

Fabulous story with amazing behind the scenes action. Absolutely loved the storyline and the interaction between the two MFC. The narrator though was pure genius! Angela Dawe does so many voices and accents. So much talent and so believable!

Lovely Book!

I love a good age gap although this one was only 9 years so does it really count? ;). Ice queen. Friends to lovers. Fake dating. So many goodies. Wonderfully written story with awesome MCs. The ice queen’s character development was well done, thorough and consistent. She didn’t just melt. She grew, learned and became more open naturally. Summer’s (the other MC) development/personality was consistently bubbly but at the same time she grew from her obsession of Elizabeth the actor to love and attraction to Elizabeth the person. She was open and honest from beginning to end. Their connection was lovely and once I started this book, it was hard to put down for real life lol.
